Hengqin holds seminar to help local enterprises explore Brazilian market
On the afternoon of June 23, 2025, a seminar to provide going-global strategies to local companies eyeing the Brazilian market was held in the Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin.
The event attracted nearly 200 industry experts and enterprise representatives, who engaged in in-depth discussions on topics such as market opportunities in Brazil and the legal and tax framework for businesses, aiming to provide enterprises with practical guidance for entering the Brazilian market.
The "Macao + Hengqin" model is becoming a new platform for the country's high-level opening-up. The cooperation zone places great importance on the rule of law and has established an innovative legal development system. This system is characterized by policy guidance, a legal service cluster in Hengqin and Macao, and alignment with international rules, aiming to enhance the business environment. The zone will continue to refine its foreign-related legal framework to support enterprises going global.
Brazil is China's largest trading partner among Portuguese-speaking countries and a popular destination for Chinese enterprises expanding internationally. With the support of national policies, the "Macao + Hengqin" model leverages the cooperation zone's advantages, such as preferential policies, Macao's low tax rate, and strong ties with Portuguese-speaking countries. This support aims to facilitate business expansion in Brazil and other Portuguese-speaking countries.
During the seminar, Xu Zhongchao, representing the China-Portugal Economic and Trade Centre Operation Management Company, and Shi Lixing, director of the Yingke Portuguese-Speaking Countries Greater Bay Area Legal Service Centre, signed a framework cooperation agreement with representatives from 16 enterprises and institutions planning to enter the Brazilian market to support enterprises going global with professional services.
Under the guidance of the Macao SAR Government and the Hengqin Cooperation Zone Executive Committee, the China-Portugal Economic and Trade Centre was established as a non-profit organization. It integrates government resources to create a one-stop comprehensive service platform. The center is dedicated to promoting cooperation between Chinese and Portuguese/Spanish-speaking enterprises.
