South Korea to invest $349m in industrial AI in 2025
South Korea’s Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy has announced an investment of 480 billion won (US$349 million) in AI initiatives in 2025, focusing on industrial applications.
The government plans to allocate 62.7 billion won (US$45.5 million) for AI factory development, 21.6 billion won (US$15.7 million) for AI chip technologies, and 120.6 billion won (US$87.6 million) for advancements in self-driving cars.
Additional funding includes 68 billion won (US$49.4 million) for bio-related AI projects, 29.6 billion won (US$21.5 million) for intelligent robots, and 13.8 billion won (US$10 million) for display technology improvements.
The ministry also aims to develop foundational AI models to aid small and medium-sized enterprises in quality control and precision manufacturing.
South Korea aims to strengthen its AI ecosystem and lead in industrial AI globally.
