Regional Economy report: consumer demand and price growth slows down
In March 2025, consumer activity continued to expand, albeit more slowly, especially in the non-food segment. Monthly price growth was decelerating but still exceeded 4% in annualised terms.
Business activity was growing overall. However, enterprises in individual sectors reported a decline in output owing to logistics problems and labour shortages, among other things.
Livestock farms in the Volga Region and packaging manufacturers in the South ramped up output. Siberia and the Far East increased coal production. Southern and North Caucasian regions were building new hotels.
More details are available in the April issue of the report Regional Economy: Commentaries by Bank of Russia Main Branches. The special topics of this issue include business and investment activity of enterprises, consumer activity, and the 2025 sowing campaign.
